Are you sure you have the correct battery hold down bracket? What year is your truck?
I have a repro in my 52 and have since purchased an original. The only difference between the repro and the original is the thickness of the metal. The original is slightly thinner than the repro. I'm also running an Optima 6V battery that is encased inside a proper sized battery box made for the Optima. It's the same size as the original battery.
I just bought a new battery and found out its 1" smaller than the old one, are there redesigned battery trays for other sizes or do I need to break out the 3d printer?
To me it looks like some of these pictures are a group 1 6v battery. If it is it’ll have a ‘1’ molded in the case. The group 1 battery is tell tale about a 1/2 inch shorter and the deck height is lower as well.
Ask for a a Group 2 6v it’s the original size and will properly fit the stock hold down tray.

I got one through my mechanic who’s a battery dealer for interstate. Although it said Deka on it. I think there’s only two battery makers anymore? Obviously considering regional shifts but I would try some larger dealers maybe? Look them up online? No one holds retail stock anymore unfortunately. It’s gonna be something that even they will have to order in for you.
When I first bought my truck, the previous owner had used wooden blocks to hold the battery in one corner of the tray. That worked for me until the next battery purchase.
