no more cat

So after a few to many me and me friend cut off my cat...... im not disapointed. yes it does smell more but for what its worth i am happy with the out come i do get better mpg.. i kept the cat and plan on making a slip on for emissions.. all i need to do now is clean up the horrible welds and actually point my turn down outward so the fumes dont sit under my bed.. headers this weekend along with the y pipe lets the soaking of the manifold studs begin

Just wait for a nice warm day and you are driving around with the windows down. My truck didn't have a cat when I bought it. I soon put one on because of the smell, and my exhaust exited out past the rear axel and I still could smell it.

By the way what brand headers are you putting on? That is something I want to do in the near future.

That's a great idea! Pollute more than everyone else on the road and have to deal with the smell to boot!

COOL MOD, dude!

I dont see removng a cat on a gas truck. You can get a pass thru cat to replace it that will give you the same MPG and performance gains.

Thje DPF is another story, its a diesel sucker if there ever was one.

When I bought my truck the previos owner had already removed the cat. I have never noticed an odd smell or anything of the sort compared to other trucks with cats. I cannot speak from experience on the performance difference between cat or no cat, but my truck is definitly louder without the cat than my friend's F150 5.4 with the same muffler and with cat.

After thinking about it I think I was a bit too sarcastic and argumentative in my post last night. I should do better, but after a long day I wasn't thinking like that.

I hope removing your cats makes you happy, I just don't understand the point.

I don't think you were either sarcastic and argumentative, you likely was passionate about the air you breath, don't get me wrong but why some one would intentionally and knowingly put that **** in my or your face just for noise? I don't get it.

I worked briefly for a government agency that monitored pollution back in 2003 and the one thing I really wouldn't worry to much about is these non-commercial vehicles putting out a substantial amount of emissions and polluting your air even without a cat. I would be far more worried about your ground water being contaminated by local business and the emissions produced by factories that literally spoil the air we breath. Even if they are fined 10K a day most major companies chalk it up to the cost of doing business for a multimillion or billion dollar company. It is actually built into the profit margin. But I digress and will not go into that here. If I had a truck that came with a cat I would keep it simply because it was built into the design parameters of the vehicle when it was built and removing it is not only unnecessary but in some cases can cause damage to the vehicle.

wow u guys need to relax. like i said i had a few to many... i live in a small town and i think that my "gas truck" is the least of worries here...... I have a buddy who only works on the power stroke diesels and his main feature is exhaust no truck leaves his shop with a cat or a muffler.

i can be nice or be at a level that your hitting me at.. My plan is to put headers on with a y pipe and now a new high flow cat b.c yes the smell gets old. i respect your realization that your were harsh. and i understand where you came from. ... on the other note think about all the old school cars that dont have cats or any emission controls on them.. like my truck really made a difference and like F250ccowner said. its not me you have to worry about its the BIG companies that have thousands of trucks. If i knew that this would turn into a tree hugger post i wouldn't have posted it.
