Well....I never thought I'd do it, but I sold my Bronco, as a result of a strange turn of events...
About 3 weeks ago, I took the Shelby to the dealership where I bought it to get an airbag issue checked out...they told me they could get it in if I had a few minutes, so I decided to check out a few trucks they had on the lot, while I waited. A salesman friend showed me a beautiful Mark LT (used) that had 70k+ miles on it and they still wanted $28k for it, and it was a few years old. Since I'd traded my Avalanche for the '12 GT back in January, I'd been missing having a truck, though I didn't really have a need, since I have a couple utility trailers that fill the need of a truck bed. After walking the lot, looking at new and used, a '12 F150 Supercrew FX4, in sterling gray, with black cloth (same as my GT) caught my eye. So I started talking numbers and they made me a deal I couldn't refuse, knocking nearly $7k off the sticker price and giving me a decent trade for the Shelby. While I'm sure there are those who think I'm CRAZY for trading a GT500 for a pickup, I've always been one to do what makes ME happy, vs what anyone else might think. When I bought the Shelby, nearly 2 years ago, I bought it for the fact that it was a Shelby...at $12k off sticker. I'd have rather had a coupe than a vert, and my '12 GT coupe fits the bill and has MORE than enough power for me, with the new 5.0 (same engine in the F150).
SO...having the new F150, AND my '94 Explorer AND the Bronco, and given that my wife has wanted a Mini Cooper for 2-3 years now, and is taking delivery tomorrow of a chili red Mini Roadster S convertible, I felt the need to get rid of one of mine and the Bronco was easily the one I could get the most $$ for...so I put it on ebay a week ago last Tuesday...starting at $5k. My goal was $6k and when the auction ended, it sold for $6225...so I was very pleased, but sad to see it go. I doubt I will ever find another Bronco in such good condition, but then I never expected to have that one either.
Sad to see the Bronco go but congrats on the new truck. Gotta love the new F150's.
I doubt I'll ever part with my Bronco. Even though it's a gas hog it's still my DD.
Dude you only live once and you can't take it with you when you go. I love cars and trucks and my passion is spending time making them do exactly what I want them to. I have three broncos including the one I'm parting out. I have a couple of cars and they all make me happy. If you really loved the bronco then I wouldn't give it too long before you start getting the itch again. Sort of how I ended up with the ones I have, you will see one for a really low price and won't be able to resist.
Justin - you hit the nail squarely on the head...cars and trucks (and motorcycles) are my passion. If I do see another Bronco at a reasonable price, you're right...I'll be ALL over it! The one I just let go of set the bar pretty high, though. It's doubtful I'll find as nice a one at as good a price - I only paid $1500 for that one, then put about that much or a little more into it before selling it, and a TON of elbow grease!
I'm guessing your dealer doesn't move a lot of vehicles at those prices! The good news is...when you're ready to buy, there are dealers out there that will actually DEAL!
Sad to hear we lost a brother but i'm sure we will see another soon. As for TGM i don't plan to sell it till it is at the point where i can't do any work on it or it is so far gone it would have to be parted out. I'm sure i made this promise with my ranger at one point but i can do much more with TGM than i could with my ranger, yes i lose the space of the bed for hauling but the small bit i lose i gain with 4wd, size, and radness of having a badass truck that chebby couldn't compare to Once i get the motor rebuilt and set it up for trailering it will be much better.
