Got this awful clunk when making turns or on uneven ground. Pretty much narrowed it down to the sway bars, I hope lol! Tried replacing all bushings with energy poly ones, no help! Was thinking maybe longer drop links since my 01 has a 6" kit on it? Already running drop links that came with my kit, bar ends not parralel to ground, would this be a problem or could it be somewhere else? Need some help guyz, thanks!!!
Is this your front or rear drop links,Sounds like you are talking about your front drop links, I was finding the bolts on mine were sticking out hitting my spring when I made a turn, Like yours they were the drop links too short where the bolts lined up with the springs, the bolts should be above or below the springs. Might also be the sway bar is not centered and one side is hitting, to 100% rule out the sway bar problem, take it off and see if it go's away. with such heave duty springs you could probably even run with out them. being my Superduty did not even come with them.
My rears are about 2" too long with a 3" lift.
if they are your front, Napa Auto parts has them in stock at a reasonable price.
With the greater arch of some lift springs the bottom front sway bar link bolts can come in contact with the leaf spring. Some folks have addressed this by flipping the frame mounts at the upper end of the links. Stock the mounts bolt on top of the frame flange, if you pull the two bolts that attach the mounting block to the frame and flip the blocks to the bottom of the frame flange you will effectively lower the end links by about 3" or so. This may be enough to keep the spring and the end link bolt from contact and it would help to correct the swaybar's angle that was changed by the lift.
I really enjoyed the Hilo area when we were there, beautiful part of the world you got there!
Something else I came across is the spring tip isolators. Tech service bulletin#99-16-3.
I came across this a while back on the forum, don't remember what trucks it applies to but it addressed clunks in the front end.
Never made it to Hilo, but did go to Kona a couple of times. Big island rocks.
