I,m trying to install 2 1/2 inch spring shackles on my front springs. I took the stock shackles off and the whole assembly moved about 2 inches to the left. I hooked a come-along to the right side frame and left spring but am having a tough time pulling the springs right enough for a successful hook up. I also see a clearance issue with the sway bar assembly. Anyone who has done this mod have any jewels of knowledge?
Did you disconnect your track bar?? (This is the bar that runs from the driver side bolted to frame and bolts to the axle on the passenger side). Mine torqued off the same way, I had to disconnect this bar and then still muscle it over to line it up. Also caught 9 kinds of hell re-positioning and reconnecting the track bar (had to loosen up bracket from frame to line up dowel bolt). Wasn't quite as easy as I thought when it was all said and done, but, I did complete rear add-a-lead and front shackle lift in one day-- the whole day.... google or youtube it and either one will give good directions.
Thanks for the reply, I just put a bottle jack and 4x4 from the frame to the right spring and put the push on it. Didn't have to loosen the track bar. The whole job took about 3 hours and all in all wasn't too bad.
Just click on search (banner above) and type "shackles" I found quite a bit of information with pics. I put the sanderson welding shackles on and raised my front end to level, I haven't towed with it yet, but it drives and rides the same as it did before. I'm not concerned with ithe rear going down under load, I'll just add some air to the bags. I didn't change anything else, just the shackles.
