I think the easist way to get at - ps - pb on my 66 is to buy a whole donor truck.
My understanding is that any F100-F150 from 67-79 will be compatible.
Next year Im going to add ac. I want to run a 4.9/5.0/5.8 with a serpentine setup and a carb. It doesnt matter to me which engine I run, I just want the swap to be easy. The later engine will have everything I need bracket wise, I can run a compressor off the belt so that when Im ready to add air that part is done.
Will the 67-72 motor/tranny mounts bolt up or will I have to do some welding?
Will the entire I beam front end with disc brakes swap over? Will there be any difference in ride height with a later front end?
I would like an AOD, but a c4 is ok. I currently (according to the door tag) have a 9 in with 3.25s.
Are the 79 and down rear ends the same width, and same width on the spring perches?
A lot of questions, Ive rebuilt a few vehicles, but never a Ford truck.
For F100 donor look for 73-79 nothing there in 67-72. I directly bolted a 76 I-beam in my 66, I got the steering gear at the same time. You will need the donor steering column as well.
Ford widened the rear axle in 73 to match the track of the front axle. You can mount it under your truck with moving the perches in to re-align the narrower chassis.
I doubt that the engine perches will fit. There is an "Engine Swaps" forum further down the list that you might check out for that answer.
I found a 79 LWB for $500 with a 302/C4, PS, AC, manual disc/drum.
Im thinking I can pull the engine, tranny, steering column, rearend, brake lines, entire frontend, horns, wheels, and whatever other bits and pieces I think I can use.
I found the brake booster brackets in a pick-n-pull for $6 out of a 78. That all I could get off that truck, everything else was gone.
