Hmmm.... the gas gauge was working on my '50 until I had the tank sealed. Now it just sits on empty. I'm guessing that due to the sealant the sending unit is no longer grounded...?
I seem to remember reading somewhere that I can just hook up a wire from a screw on the sending unit to a location on the body. Is this correct? Thought I'd get some opinions before I go out and spend 5 minutes testing this...
Daryl is correct-you need to have a wire from a good ground source (frame, cab, etc) that is attached to one of the sending unit mounting screws. This will ensure that the sending unit is well grounded and the resistance will be accurate at the guage.
