Hey all, just curious, how small of a rim can i run on my 72 f250? i want to get rid of the 16.5's and i was thinking of going down to a 16, but i just looked up the prices on 16" tires and i dont like what i saw. ~$350 a tire is too much for 16's... In most cases they were $20 or so a tire cheaper than 17"s. So, can i run a 15? They are so much cheaper to run and there is a lot of off road selection. Can anyone advise? Id just run out and check but the truck is in the engine shop right now...

$350 a tire? What overpriced store are you shopping at?
Go online and get your tires, they are much cheaper, even after shipping. I bought a set of 4 new 17" tires from "www.tireteam.com" for under $650 (includes ground shipping).
Some shops will also price match.
So get a price from TireRack.com add the shipping cost and see if a shop with match that.
Also remember that some tire shops will charge about $20 per for mount and balance and some will not even touch them unless you buy tire or rim from them.
Look for close outs or discontinued tires. I got a set of 15" closeouts for one of my cars for $60each mounted and balanced. I know car and truck tires are a huge differance.

Looked at tirerack.com for the 35"s and thats where they were $350 a tire.
I am looking for a set of 16"s i guess and 35" tall tires, i really dont have the energy to figure out what that equates to as far as the 16" sizes go, since you cant just buy a 33 or 35 you gotta get a 315/70r16 or whatever. there are just not that many options for our trucks, everything is geared now toward the 29" rims you see on everyone elses brand new trucks that never see dirt. Friggin pavement pounders, Diesels are the new ricers.... what a sad world we live in. ok, sorry for the rant, i really like the Level 8 Trackers, will 8x165.1's fit? and zero backspacing right? my truck can run 33s with no problem right now so 35's shouldnt be much of a stretch.. ?
Check out the tires on my truck -- Kelly Safari TSR's on Eagle Alloys 16x10's. Tires are metric equivalent of 35x12.5x16. Definitely reasonably priced, would have to look up invoice, but less than $200 per tire...
