Steering box

Guesstimating is a great way to waste money. I doubt that you have that much play in your steering box alone. I'm sure that you have play in other areas of the steering system, like tie rod ends, ball joints, axle pivot bushings, radius arm bushings, etc. I've even seen frames crack around the steering box so check that as well.

If its a 95, it should have the LCD odometer that reads to a million miles, no rolling over till you get to the 1,000,00 mark, so you may not have as many miles as you think. Why not jack it up and check for play your self? not too terribly time consuming and the wheels dont even need to come off. You just have to be careful as most shops see someone with a diesel coming and treat them like their beast is some sort of exotic and charge extra for otherwise normal repairs.

Nope the LCD display goes to 399,999 then rolls over to 300,000 again.....

Is there some kind of reward, like I get a new if I surpass the number they deemed maximum? Hard to believe, but my truck may have more than the 380k I bought it with! Kinda disappointing too. My Isuzu Impulse looked pretty cool with 667k on its odo.

It makes no sense to me either, if they can make it go to 399,999 why not just go to 999,999?? I guess it's another Ford "Better Idea"..
