so let's bump it back up. I've got a 1950 F1 - We got our bed wood & sheet metal parts from Midwest Early Ford.
I'm not sure I follow your question but I'll take a stab - in our bed both of the last side boards in the bed had to be "adjusted" quite a bit to get them to fit. It was more work than you would think - certainly not plug & play.
The wood is stepped down at the edges, along the sides, and at the back where a metal piece bolts in over the edgs. I didn't measure the step, but it appears to be around 1/8 inch....here's a pic of my boards before I put them in:

I don't have any pics of the sheet metal cap installed in the back, but I think you'll need to notch the boards.
Get a simple router table that fits whatever router you get. It's much easier and more accurate to pass the wood over the cutter than the cutter over the wood, especially if you need to make more than one pass or make an adjustment.
