I like steel those angles. Simple but strong as hell. I usually install secondary battery boxes there up front.
I like your platforms. I also like holes on the platforms, not diamond plate.
Material was aluminum and since I have access to great welders it was the only stuff I'd use---no rust issues. Hardened threaded rod is showing its vulnerability when left exposed as it is now.
When all this is finalized I'll use larger sections in order to almost eliminate the lateral deflection I've noticed with someone quite heavy jumping on the boards. I'm not that heavy myself but thinking of jumping on them during quick entry or exiting.
The boards themselves are salvaged heavy truck walkway planks, selected because they have open spaces giving better foot traction with snow or mud covered shoes. The solid surfaces seem prone to being slippery regardless what texture or surface they have.
Anyway thanks again Henry---dinner/lunch still on me next time you're within 50 miles of Columbus, Ohio!
It wouldn't be hard to get a local shop to cut some diamond plate, and attach that to the sheet metal of the lower lip. Drill some holes, apply corrosion inhibitor, and use through bolts..
Actually I've been searching on-line for diamond plate in strips. They make it for adding wall corner protectors and base molding for workshops. Nothing specific to my needs that I've found so far.
Could be cut easily on a metal band saw with a guide. A few 48" strips. Bending to meet that curve at the bottom will be the trick.
