429 to NP435 bell housing/clutch
I have a 67 F250 Highboy and just pulled the 360 out of it to put in a 429 to hook up to a NP435. What bell housing, clutch, and flywheel will I need? I have the clutch all the way from the petal to the z-bar. Can I use all of that? I'm kind of new to this, so I don't know what all I need. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks

429 conversion
I converted my 68 short Ranger in 74 from a 360 to a 460 with a wide ratio toploader . Do you have the motor mounts? As far as the flywheel it will work on the 429,as it should be internally balanced. Also it should use the same pilot bushing . To connect the clutch linkage you will have to fabricate a bracket to support the clutch pivot ball for the engine side. I am the original owner of this truck and I was the first one in the New Orleans area to do this conversion. With the 2.78 first gear and 3.50 axle it proved out to be a real street sweeper at red light rallys, it topped out at 131 on I-10 @ 5500rpm. The 460 was built with 429 SCJ parts from the cam up . The truck is in the garage waiting to be restored again. Kenny Nunez

I don't have the motor mounts, bell housing, flywheel or anything from the 360 anymore so I need to get everything new. Jowilker said I should be able to use a bell housing for a 400 so can I use a flywheel and clutch stuff for a 400 too? And then just fab a bracket for the engine side right?

429 conversion
Oh yes, Joe is right as that is the bellhousing I also used , make sure that you get the shield that goes between the engine and bellhousing to properly locate the starter. You also may need to relocate the radiator hose connections. Try to obtain a good quality motor mount from L&L in Rowlet ,Texas , they should have every thing for the conversion. They also have headers that "will fit" without having to cut up the frame for clearance. Be sure to use the original throttle bracket from the 360 intake manifold, you will have to fabricate new control rods. On my 68 I had to replace the front springs also. Good luck ,Kenny Nunez

I've used 351M/400 bellhousings with a 435 transmission in two seperate swaps, both times I had problems with the input shaft of the trans bottoming out against the pilot bushing in the crankshaft. It seems the distance from trans mounting face to block mounting face is about a half an inch shorter on the M bellhousing than it is on a 429/460 bellhousing. If you use an automatic trans. it doesn't matter if it's from a 351M/400 or a 429/460.
I'm pretty sure you need a 360/390 flywheel to bolt on to a 429 if you don't have a 429 flywheel.

429/460, they are available, and will bolt right up with no trouble.
You could try a 351M/400 bell housing but you might need a 3/8" to 1/2" spacer in between the bell housing and the engine block. Or find a way to shorten your input shaft.

The problem I had was with the length of the input shaft grinding into the pilot bushing.
