Mail software upgrade
Has anyone else gotten the software upgrade in the mail from Ford? My mom's just came in the mail yesterday so i installed it for her today. Took about 45 minutes and you have to leave it idling the entire time. It came with directions, a Ford USB drive and a new Ford SD card for updated navigation maps. I only used it for a few minutes after it finished installing, but i have to say, the touch screen seems much more user friendly now. I really like how they changed stuff around and changed the buttons around. Especially on the radio screen, just seems easier to understand and use to me.
So has anyone else gotten this in the mail yet?

New MFT software
Ford, I have to hand it to you for listening to your customers! I too received my software update yesterday for my 2012 Explorer and the changes are great!
Easier to read screens, important info. In larger type, less important info. Smaller type. Radio pre-sets are now a breeze to do! Easy to set the clock, radio bass, treble, fade, etc., all much , much simpler! Well done Ford!
Next area they need to look at is the overly sensitive hazard warning button located below the MFT, I can't tell you how many time I have accidentally touched this triangle and put the flashers on! It either needs relocated or a different type of switch used...

My dealer installed the upgrade last week on my 2012 3.5L xlt. It sure is easier to use and much more stable than the old version. Mine used to come up on different screens, different radio stations and sometimes the backup camera would not turn on. Big fix! I agree with the sensitive hazard warning switch location, I've turned it on several times by accident.

Yeah, i dont believe my mom requested it. It took me opening it to figure out what it actually was! Lol

Actually the directions say that once the update starts you can drive the vehicle, but certain features might be unavailable during the process. I drove mine during the upgrade and no problems at all.

Got mine for my wife's '12 xlt, will install over the weekend. Do you know if it does anything for the bluetooth phone. Sometimes it doesn't recognize teh commands, also there is a lot of backround noise when talking to her, I would assume that's a hardware issue but you never know.
