Okay, first things first...I am a newby to FORDS, having been a Chevy guy for many many years. I am an old phart in southern Md. and found a very nice 67 short bed F-100. I bought it knowing the engine was blown.
Anyway, the block number indicated it is a '75 truck block. It has a hole about 3" in diameter in #3. So I am shopping for a newer 300.
The guy at the local pull apart said he has a running '82 f-150, but the oil pan has to be changed.
Google and other sites dont specifically cover if the blocks are the same for the swap, so I figured I'd ask you guys.....
Welcome to the forum. The 300 6 is a great engine. They are stout and can last many miles.
I would figure they (300) are all the same. The only thing I could see changing would be the distributor as the 82 is electronic and the 67 truck if original is points. As for the oil pan it should just swap over. I may be wrong on this and if I am someone will correct me.
Late blocks are not equipped for a mechanical fuel pump.
True, you would want a 86 or earlier, 87 went EFI. From what I understand, so take it for what it's worth, even a 240 motor will work. I've heard the head and crank are the 2 differences in the 240 and 300.
