Battery Warning Light

I have a '95 Bronco and the battery warning light stays on. I have checked the alternator and battery and both check good. What would be my next step in the system to check.

Battery Warning Light

I would first take voltage readings at the battery. It should be around 12 volts with the engine off, and something higher when the engine is running. If it stays at 12 volts or lower with the truck running, we can assume the battery light is telling the truth, it's not charging. If the voltage shows it is charging, I would check the connections and wiring at the alternator. I don't know if your year has the seperate regulator, or the internal regulator, but if it's charging, and the light is still on, I would suspect the regulator.

It's internally regulated, and the warning light is a DIRECT feed off the regulator. There's almost no way it can be wrong. Check the wiring diagram in a Haynes manual. Many parts stores will test the alt on the vehicle free.
