Since I'm new, I put a little entry in the "Greenhorn" thread.
I am looking at a 2007 F250, 5.4 with 50K miles. I had several questions about how to determine the diff ratio, LS, etc., but reading the "New Member" stuff I found several breakdowns of the VIN codes, Certification Codes, etc.
If you have any additional pointers, let me know.
While reading about "complaints" I see several instances of steering/front end shimmy after hitting uneven pavement ?? I'll come to you guys for the straight answers.
Is there anything specific that I need to look at?
It only has 50k on it, i'd not be to worried about the spark plugs yet, unless the truck is super rusty and you are worried about corrosion or something. The recommended change is as 100k, lots of folks do it early to help them from breaking or being stuck.
It sounds to me like a nice ride. The spark plug issue is slightly overblown. It can be an issue but hardly is compared to the volume of these motors around. The exhaust manifold studs can snap but may not ever also, specially because of your location. Just look closely in the crevices for rust or corrosion. Review the truck's oasis report as well. Any links to pics you could post?
An "oasis" report is all new to me, since I have not been in a buying mode for many years. I know the owner and the truck, so there should not be any surprises. I do need to be schooled on that oasis thing.
I copied the information about reading the VIN and Vehicle Certification Label, so that is next. If it does not have limited slip, then I'm not interested. I'll take some pictures then.
Now if I can figure out how to turn off the email notification. I clicked the button, but I am still getting emails.
Also, some of that year break had some catalytic converter issues. There may have been a recall or maybe just a tsb that paid warranty if it failed at one point but definitely some would start rattling. We had a good many do it.
