Greetings to all.
I just joined this site hoping I can get some good advise. I'm restoring an 84 F150 4X4. It's currently running a straight 6 with a 4spd manual transmission. I really want to convert it to an automatic transmission and still use my 4X4. Does anyone know which transmission I can use or a kit. I'm pretty sure it's a C6. But I've heard it might be a C5 and I'm not sure of the difference. Standing by.
My '84 F150 4X4 has a C-6 transmission. I don't think I have every heard of a
C-5 in a full size truck, but I haven't heard of everything either, so I could be wrong.

They put C4's, C5's, C6's, AOD, and FMX transmissions in these trucks.
There was a thread a week or so back where I looked up the transmission code for a fella. It was a C5, the code was "W" and he said it had 11 pan bolts.
If you want to know what transmission your going to get, here are the codes:
C- Ford 3 speed manual
F- Borg Warner T-18 4 speed
A- New Process 435 4 speed
P- Born Warner T-19 4 speed
B- Clark 4 Speed Manual OD
G- C4 3 speed automatic
W- C5 3 speed automatic
K- C6 3 speed automatic
J- FMX Automatic
T- Automatic Overdrive
Applicable by looking at the sticker on the B pillar of the cab on the driver's side of the truck.
