In order to have A/C seats I believe you have to have perforated leather seats. So if you have perforated leather then it maybe possible otherwise you may have to replace your leather and add the A/C, fan system.
My 08 Expy had them OEM. Fan has 2 speeds. Low doesn't flow air for crap, Fast is loud and sounds like window open...and the noise is right by your head. Annoying
When they did work, it was nice. The perforated seats make sitting there feeling icey air on your rear interesting.
I wouldn't do it personally. You'll have to route A/C ducting to under the seat, new covers, all the wiring. Hassle for a gimmick IMO

X2 on that. They feel (and sound) like you're sitting on an air hockey table. Put remote start on instead and let it cool down for a few minutes before you take off.

I have a buddy that has a Ford Platnium and he has the cooled seats and I must say I was really impressed. Austin in August ain't pretty. Good idea on the remote start. Won't help sticking to the seats, but it won't cost 3k either.
My mom's current MKX and her last Navigator (2000) have/had cooled seats.
In the MKX, it's a 3 stage system for three intensities. 1, I wonder if it's even on. 2 I use if my rear gets cold from 3. 3 is where it's at. But even then, I still can't hear any kind of noise from it. It sounds like the dash fan comes on just a little louder, even when turned on 1, like it's pushing the air farther. But nothing through the seats. I only notice the fan sound if it's already cool in there and the fan was on the lowest speed anyway, then it like kicks up one level when the seats are turned on.
It does have perforated leather.
With the Navigator, I don't recall exactly how it worked or operated, I just know the switch was on the side of the seat by the seat control. Here's a link for a track system on eBay:
One interesting thing to note, the MKX has heated seats as well, with the same 3-position type switch. With one of those seat heaters on max, it's no where near as hot as an Excursion, or for that matter the F-450, seat heater. It's more of a warmer, where the Excursion/F-450 one is a roaster. The Excursion one I find I do want to shut it off at times. The MKX one never gets close to that.
My 03 and 07 Expy's both had them and I gotta say I miss them! Not sure about the experiences of others but mine weren't loud at all. It is a bit of a weird feeling at first - but as a friend mine said - beats having swamp a$$! I would love to have them again - and the perforated leather that goes with it.

I agree, but it may not be cost effective to install in the excursion. Might be better off getting Ford to bring the excursion back with the seats included!
most vehicles that have air conditioned seats don't actually run cool air from the air conditioner to the seats... as mentioned in the first reply, they just run perforations and small fans. I think the problem is that your *** would block air to the perforations you were sitting on so it wouldn't help that much. What you need is one of these:

Hey, in all seriousness, those cool shirts are amazingly effective. Its like being plunged into a tub of water of whatever temperature the coolant is. You could put a cooler in the back that ran a heat exchanger (like the evaporator that is already in the back) between the refrigerant and the liquid in the cool shirt system, turn your AC up, and sew one of these into your seat or something: Therapeutic Hypothermic Cooling System - Personal Cooling by Cool Shirt
It would be the coolest seat ever. But that seems like a lot of work. I'm a hot person anyway, I start sweating at like 78 degrees and I don't function well in temperatures above 95 or so. If I had to move to someplace stupid hot, I'd probably install one. Or I'd just wear that backpack cool system they have all the time.
Being in Austin and working outside, I like the idea of the cooling system mod. However, for me it seems to be an expensive, complex and cumbersome system to implement and use. I guess I just have to sweat, drink cool beverages and think cool thoughts.
