not-so-good vibrations

I was out joy-riding in Rolling Thunder this past weekend and noticed a new vibration in the rear end. It feels like its in the rear axle. I also noticed when I take off fron a stop sign/light, it feels like there is some slack than needs to be taken up in the driveline before it will move. I semi-regularly grease the driveshaft slipjoint. Any ideas??

Thanks guys,
Aaron

I bet ya a six pack you have a bad u-joint.Check the slack in them.I bet it is the rear joint at the rear differential yoke.
Been there several times myself.

Thanks for the reply. I recently had my entire drive shaft rebuilt and balanced. Had Spicer joints installed too. I just crawled under there when I got home from work and checked things out a little. All the u-joints were ok. (so does this mean I get a buzz on someone ELSES dime?? No worries, I share )
I was hearing a little grinding when I hit the brakes at slow speed so Im wondering if it's brake related. I did notice some brighter orange rust on the inside of the RR rim tonight. Next things to look at, WHEN is another story.....

It could be a tight U joint. Pull the rear loose and check for being too tight.

^^^True...How long has it been since you greased the slide pins on the calipers?

I never thought of that! I'll check that next opportunity I get.
