Replacing IDI with Powerstroke

Guys,

Buddy of mine has a 93 Powerstroke with <130,000 miles. Can this go straight into a 1992 IDI? Same transmissions in both trucks.

Bolt in, yes, operational, no. The PS is fly by wire, so all electronics must be brought along as well. It can be done, but you need to bring the entire control harness along with the motor. You will also need to add fuel pumps to the tanks.

Gotta wake up a little more... It is still an idi. In a 93, the IDI got turbos as an option. The powerstroke motor didn't show up until 94.5.The 93 motor will be a direct bolt.

As I did some research I relieved 93 was a TIDI not a powerstroke. So assuming it's a TIDI it should bolt right up with no mods what so ever?

Correct.

Heck you can just pull the turbo off one engine, and install it on the other.

That's awesome!!!

My concern with my engine is I had a head gasket issue last year, i replaced it but the head was just off by the recommended tolerance and I am always concerned that it will go again. So when this came along it seems like an awesome backup/swap out.
