4x4 not working

4x4 not working
I have an 03 f150 fx4, I was playing around at a buddies farm today 4x4 worked great and then I got stuck and put it in 4 hi and it didn't engage.I ward it clic and the light came o any ideas?

If you got stuck before trying 4H maybe the front actuator has been jambed with mud.
Get under and look at it.
Usually the light don't come on unless the dash solenoid has operated to connect engine vacuum to the front actuator so it can engage the internal collar to lock up the front drive.

there is a small vacuum cylinder mounted to the pumpkin on the front axle. there are two vacuum hoses to each end of the cylinder. one pulls the 4 x 4 in, one pulls the 4 x 4 out. THe cylinder connects to an arm that goes into the alxe case and shifts it in and out. .P ull the two hoses off and see that one has vacuum when the **** is in 4 x 4 and the other has vacuum when the **** is 2 x 4. The vacuum goes thru two solenoids on the fire wall infront of the driver, that is the click that you hear.

Ok I looked today and I saw two female fittings for what looks like a vacuum system wrapped in plastic, but there was no solenoid or anything that I could see, there's some type of switch k see but nothing else.does anyone have a picture of what I need to be looking for.
