Hey yall. Started the truck up today turned on the a/c and when I turned the fan on hi nothing happened. I can feel cold air wheeping outthe vents but the fan is not blowing. Hot and cold work as do the vent controls for defrost, on ur feet , in ur face and so on. Everything in the hvac controls work but the fan wont blow. Checked the blower fues under the steering wheel and under the hood. All look ok. Any suggestions ?
The resistor pack is out of the equation if you're on MAX speed, so you can rule that out if you check.
Blower motor brushes would be my first suspicion at this point in the truck's life, as they have been doing their job a long time and they ARE wear items, after all.
I haven't a clue if they are separately serviceable or not, but there sure wouldn't be any harm in attempting it.
You can check that motor by hot wiring it directly to the battery with a jumper wire.
Hey all. I posted yesterday afternoon and havent been able to work on it at all. I never have had to take a fan blower motor out. Is this hard ? My cheater book "manual" is across town. I really dont even know where to start.
If i do get a new blower motor where, what kind, and how much we talkin. Thanks yall are always good help
Did you make any assessment of the difficulty in replacing the brushes alone?
In what shape was the commutator ring?

For $40 for a new motor I dont think going through all the work to replace the brushes is worth it.
and bakerbuilttracks its not hard to replace the motor. Its on the passenger side on the top of the fire wall I think its 3 bolts and the motor comes right out. Then pop in the new one and call it done.
Based on your symptoms I'd lean to blower motor before resistor.
Three screws to remove, but you need to loosen/move a few things to get to it. Its the big metal round thing in the passenger firewall.
The electrical plug for it clips right off, so you can open the box for the new blower and connect it to the wiring while holding the blower in your hand and turning on the fan. If the spindle spins then you know your installed one is bad. If the spindle does not spin, return it and get the resistor.
thanks y'all. sorry for the delay in the reply. I looked at it tues morning and found how to replace the motor. Looks fairly simple. I took schlepprock250's advice. I turned the fan to hi and tapped the motor and presto ! it worked. It has been working since. SO if it takes a crap i got all the info i need on replacing the motor. Thanks again for all she speedy replys and help.
My truck and my dads has been doing this lately. Blower mother sounds like it is barely working and as soon as you push the plug in on the motor it starts running fine. I guess at 240,000 miles it's time for a new one. It's kinda funny that my wiper motor is also taking a crap on me. I noticed that snowplowing this winter when the truck was cold the wipers worked extremely slow even on high. I guess the mileage is catching up with me still love my 7.3 though
