Injector Cup

I am helping my brother replace the injectors on his 05 6.0l. I am hoping someone could help me with the procedure for removing and installing the injector cups.

We have already replaced the STC fitting, egr delete and oil cooler. We still have the injectors, standpipes, dummy plugs, water pump, and GP's to go.

TIA!

Shane

why on earth would you replace the cups. if you have one that is leaking fuel in to the cooling system you should be replacing the head.
next the cups are made of stainless steel. removing the cups should only be done with the head off the engine.

Well I guess I thought that it was standard to replace them when replacing the injectors... If not, is there anything I need to do to them before placing the new injectors in?

Thanks for the advice Cheezit!

Just lube the new o-rings with clean engine oil and torque the TX-40 hold-downs to 24 ft-lbs.

That's funny, I just thought that was just part of the job...

We will be back at it tomorrow afternoon. I will make sure we look out for the copper washers... I am surprised how easy it actually is to change the injectors out.

Benny I appreciate the help as always! Will shoot some Reps your way when I can!

M-Chan68 - I have to spread some reps around I guess...

I'm just curious if the penny trick would work with these heads as well? I did it with a 99 7.3. Just drop a penny in to keep shavings from falling through.

Bear in mind that a 7.3L engine compartment is a lot less restrictive for space than a 6.0L.
