I know this is older thread but hope you found problem. I had a friend with same problem and he ended up changing the cat converter. It had same symtoms,etc. Hope this helps.

Dad finally got around to finishing the TPS install today and low and behold that was the problem. Truck purrs like new now. Thanks everyone for your help.
