failed inspection

WTF!!! i just failed inspection on my 2004 f 250 for
A. trailer hitch was on.
B. my exhuast was too loud, i have magnaflow muffulers with a catalytic convertor, its not that loud!!
i pass emmisions no problem, and i have to go back to the place that failed me or it will be red flagged at the registry

any ideas or is my only option to put a stock muffler on?

Stock muffler or move somewhere that doesn't have inspections.

What's wrong with the hitch? Did it just fail because you had the ball mount in and no trailer hooked up?

Was the exhaust too loud according to a decibel meter or the inspectors recently calibrated hearing ?

Maybe that inspector is a Prius lovin' environmental zealot.

Perhaps going to a different inspection place?

I think it shows he lives in Mass. Not surprising they would fail for the exhaust. I think most New England states (Maine has already passed and New Hampshire is trying to pass now) are going towards a stock ONLY exhaust systems. In other words, you add headers.... fail, you want loud pipes on your Harley... you got it, fail. The list goes on .... zero tolerance inspections.

In regards to "A." did you have the draw bar on? I don't think it's the hitch itself but the draw bar. I've read various things about people saying this is an issue with either inspection or law enforcement because the draw bar causes unecessary damage in minor accidents. Again just total speculation here.

A fine socialist state MA is along with some of the other north eastern ones. Might as well park your pig of a truck and get one of the Priuses or Volts so your tree huggin law makers feel good.

...and live in huge homes that spews carbon to heat it. Then they buy carbon credits to offsets to justify it. Bunch of hypocrits! Al Gore comes to mind.

A lot of states on the east coast have laws which state you cannot modify an exhaust to make the vehicle louder than stock.

Even if I moved to the NE I would have to keep my TX property so I can keep my TX plates. I would never get through inspection.

Lot of tried to do in CA for ages. The police goes on big company parking lot and take notes about out of state license plates. Than they come back 10 days later, what is the time frame for registering vehicles in CA and if they spot the same out of state license plate -they leave a ticket. Lately they try to turn neighbors against each other and report such violations.
What da heck is Pelican hitch?
