ok sooo... apparently my request for the factory spray in liner was too late and its not happening. so i started looking into line x. i like. i went to the local place and got a quote. the guy was off his rocker. must not want business. he wanted 750 for under the rail, 8' bed, no tailgate!!!! !@#$%^&* dudes crazy. he told me prices went up yada yada yada.. so i called some places in my hometown (as im away on extended leave) and they both quoted me the same price of 485. one guy said he would drop 25 due to the tailgate step. not to mention the 750 guy was feeding me other BS about the product that the other two places straightened me out on. wow. sorry just venting.
When you get the factory one the tailgate has the plastic liner. Someone correct me if I am wrong but didn't someone say that there is an open area under the plastic tailgate cover? So I do not think you can spray the tailgate.
the guy who initially quoted me 750 replied to my email about the other prices i found. he said he "miss quoted" me and the price is actually 485. funny how that works. apparently his grammar is about as good as his price quotes
You'll be glad you're going with the aftermarket. I have the factory sprayed liner and it's too soft. Pushed an old tube tv into the bed, side of the tv hit the wheel well and took a chunk out of the liner. I had a line-x in my old truck and never had a problem with it.
I'd avoid the guy who mis-quoted you, sounds shady. He was probably hoping you wouldn't shop around...

That's interesting, I haven't been able to even scratch my factory spray using my loader bucket to scrape things out of my bed.

I saw your post about that. There's probably a number of variables that play into spraying liners (of which I know nothing about ). All I know is that mine seems much softer than I had expected. I had an old can of bedliner in a spray can and went back over the missing chunk, just so there wasn't any metal exposed.

ya my thought exactly. im thinkin line x is the way to go and i will be glad in the long run. and also have a coat of paint under it vs the bare metal factory job. im thinkin to line x my flat load folding floor for the back seat as well....
Finally getting in to get my truck sprayed with the Line-X liner on Wednesday afternoon. They have been backed up for over a week. Donating the drop in liner to a buddy that has a 2000 Super Duty with a 6.5' box. He's hoping it will fit...

Cant wait to get mine too. When u take it in see if they take the bed bolts out with torx drivers or torx plus. They are torx plus bolts and torx often break off. I plan to remove my bolts and put anti seize the reinstall before they get their hands on em.
