it seems there is...If you go on you can read what the newest update does, and gives you . I know there are some upgrades for us with smart phones.
I'm avoiding the so called smart phones too. I'll stick with a nice "feature" phone that does all the voice/pic/vid/sms/email I need without a data plan charge.

There was only 1 sync update to my Sync which was built in 8/09. It basically added the ability to disable 911 assist and they sent everyone a USB stick with the update in the mail. The same and some firmware revision checker utility can be gotten online at the Sync site.
The dumb thing about it is, you need to use the USB stick to update the Sync, and then take the USB back to your computer to upload some status back to Ford's Sync site to let them know what firmware revision you have and whether you were able to update successfully.
I think that was about it. I haven't seen any updates since. They've moved on!!

If you go to the link I provided, you can get the newest update, I believe it was 10/2011.
There is no shortage of dumb things about it, starting with the asinine "911 assist". If I wanted friggin' nanny onstar crap I would buy GM. I also have no intention of providing any of the information they demand to register on the Sync site.

Im not sure why your commenting on this thread then? I posted this to hopefully remind some folks and maybe even help some ....not to be ridiculed by someone who thinks the notion of some of the options suck.

I posted asking what was new in the updates, when I followed the link to the Sync site and looked around again it reminded me of what a terrible site it was and why I didn't register on it 3 years ago.
What I gather from here, since you certainly can't get any decent info from the Sync site without registering and giving them a friggin' DNA sample, is that the upgrades add some smartphone device support.
Just about every other product manufactures site provides unfettered access to firmware updates and release notes for those updates detailing what has changed since the previous version. Why Ford can't follow that clear example is beyond me.
