EOT and ECT

I see alot on here about EOC and ECTs. This may sound crazy to some of you but how are you getting your temps. Are gauges and sensors installed. New owner of my first diesel so this is somewhat new to me.

A Scangage II can provide these and other information for your truck. Cost about $160 from any auto parts store. Check Autozone or ebay

Just to further the explanation.....

The truck already has sensors for the EOT and ECT. The truck's PCM monitors these readings as part of it's normal operation.

What the ScanGaugeII and SCT Livewire (as well as the Edge CTS) do is plug into the truck's OBDII port and let you also see the information that's already being delivered.

Just to clarify, the Scanguage II out of the box does not measure EOT and alot of other parameters. It must be programmed with what they call Xguage codes. Some of the codes can be found on the Scanguage website and many others can be found on this forum. Do a search of scanguage II codes or xgauge codes.

the Edge Insight CTS is great tool, and with the expandable probe if you want to add more to it down the line you can, plus run 8 things at one time. Most are Free shipping over $50 it is plug and play
http://www.xtremediesel.com/edgeproductInsightCSCTS.aspx
Things you can add down the line like turbo timer & back up Monitor & fuel pressure
The Edge accessory system (EAS) was created with future expandability in mind Product Code: EDG98603

Ford Powerstroke 6.0L fuel pressure monitor and low pressure fix. | Toy Hauler Adventures
Fuel pressure is also important because pressure under 45lbs at WOT kills injectors so the new fuel reg kit is needed (blue spring) to up the fuel pressure, mine after the install 58lbs WOT and 62-64lbs at idle.

This is what i got for the fuel pressure gauge, it goes into the test port, this is a cool set up gets the sender away from the heat and viberation of the motor.

I'll throw in a plug for the DashDAQ which I've been using for while with good success. Not only can you monitor the EOT and ECT individually but you can also do the math to display the delta and alarm if any monitored parameter is out of range.

if you have a smartphone, you can use a Bluetooth OBDII adaptor from e-bay and download the Torque app. You can add an app for Ford vehicles for free as well. Total cost is about $35 (assuming you have the smartphone).

Isspro EV2 2" gauges are awesome. For stuff that the ODBII connector can read they aren't really necessary, but for some things (fuel press, mechanical boost, pyro, diff temps) they're cheaper than the cost of the expandable wiring for the Edge CTS.
