Hey, but at the end of the day, I'm just asking what fluid I should use in my next change. I used Castrol Domestic Multi-Vehicle last time around. I just want to make sure what I put in this time is agreeable. I do plan to drain both pan and TC, but still don't want to be mixing "baking soda and vinegar".
Understood. Adding the wrong fluid could be an expensive lesson and one that I would not want to make even if the outdated owners manual said something contrary to what updated Ford TSB says.

I recommend MERCON V. Any brand, your choice. Also your choice whether or not to use conventional, blend, or full synthetic. They are all available.
[QUOTE=Mark Kovalsky;11581729]NEVER use MERCON V in a 5R110 transmission. It will kill all seven solenoids, and you don't want to know what it cost to replace all of them.
When I had a 4R100 and used it for towing I used Mobil 1 synthetic ATF.
Thanks! That's exactly what I was planning to use when I get my truck back from the shop. It currently has Amsoil ATF and I'm hoping that didn't contribute to the failure I had - only been in there about 25k miles.
I've talked to several master mechanics that really like for people to use Amsoil in everything. They won't sell it, they just like people to use it. It's paid for several kid's college educations.
