i usally post over in the super duty but a new to me truck got me over here today. i was wondering what kind of service would you suggest at 60,000 miles. thank you
Have a look in the "Scheduled Maintenance" section of the owners manual for the vehicle in question for Fords list of 60K maintenance items.
If its a Ranger your talking about, also have a look at the rubber boots covering the ball joints for dryrot cracks, my 99 was showing serious signs of dryot at only 60K!!!! Check the BJ's for looseness/wear, had to replace mine at only 66K miles.
Lube the inner & outer wheel bearings & install new grease seals. Check them for wear & lube & adjust to spec.
Air filter, fuel filter, serp belt, new coolant, radiator cap, thermostat, coolant hoses including heater & engine bypass hoses if equpped, flush P/S system & change its filter if equipped, flush auto tranny & change its filter, engine oil & filter, are some things that come to mind.
thanks for the tip about the grease boots its a 2006 ranger so ill have to take a good look at them. it didnt have the manual with it so i got one off ebay
Go to the Ford Owners site here & register with your vehicles particulars & you can log, or access any of your Ford vehicles repair or maintenance records, service schedules, find any recalls, link to no cost owner manual downloads from the site, ect, ect. https://owner.ford.com/servlet/Conte...e&ord=95698211
Ha! My 54,000 mile Ranger was showing signs of upper ball joint cracking at 44,000 miles.
Make sure you look over the transmission and engine real well. Look for broken connectors, missing output shaft seals, wrong parts installed, broken brackets, missing bolts, etc. I have found every single one of the above on my Ranger. I thought I looked it over with a fine tooth comb, but it appears that my comb didn't have enough teeth on it.
