Hey folks - new to me 1994 IDI Ford F250. Trying to figure out the gooseneck hitch situation in this thing. There is a 2 1/8" inside diameter hole in the bed. The hole appears to be the inside of a 3" OD collar welded into a piece of open-end-up C channel welded, with bracing, to each frame rail. Everything looks very stout, but I guess I wasn't expecting the 2 1/8" ID hole. Pictures:
So my question is - is this a full-strength goosneck hitch receiver? Or is this just a spot to mount a receiver?
I certainly thought it looked a bit weak...but what is it? Do you think a guy fabbed that up to be used? Or is that a factory piece that is designed to have more bolted to it?
i agree with those above me. I will say that my GN hitch is home made. piece of 1" steel welded to the frame rails with a hole in the center and a nut for a ball welded to the plate
