-Removed the small coolant hose from degas bottle to radiator and also took my coolant filter out
-Took cold side intercooler pipe out
-Took upper radiator hose off rad and folded it back out of the way
-Disconnected fan clutch connector
-Pulled drive belt off the alternator
-Removed 2 8mm bolts on top of fan shroud
-My shroud had already been cut so i removed the 4 self tappers holding it together...im not sure i had to remove them each separately or if i could have just pulled it all out...
-Removed upper fan shroud
-Removed lower fan shroud (it just pulls straight up)
-Removed 4 15mm bolts that hold on fan surround
-Pulled fan surround towards nose of truck and put my gearwrench removal tools on the water pump pulley and fan clutch nut
-Removed fan clutch/fan/fan surround all together
-Swap fan onto new fan clutch, 6 1/2" (i believe) bolts
-Remove 4 10mm bolts on water pump pulley (needed some whacks with a hammer to come off)
-Remove 4 10mm bolts on water pump (also needed few whacks)

And reassemble...really wasnt anywhere near as bad as i thought. Happy i finally got it done

Something that made me wonder was there were a bunch of black specs in my coolant i drained out... i ended up filtering it out into another 5 gallon bucket before i poured it back in. Ive had a coolant filter for 50k miles and changed the filter 4-5 times already and theres still stuff in there. Coolants been flushed a lot
Why was the battery, air filter, CAC tube removed?

Just seemed like it'd make my life easier at the time. I needed to take out the air filter anyways because i pinched my gauge wires under it. I definitely think i could have left the battery in there but the other 2 gave me more room

Changed the fuel filters on the '05. Normally I have a shop or the dealership do maintenance but I decided to do it myself. The primary filter went out and in as expected. The secondary filter cap; what a piece of garbage. The 1/2" socket ftting just fell appart, had to chistle it out. They must have hired the village idiot to design that cap.

OOOPs no clue why they put that stupid thing that way. Unless it was
to make money by selling you a new one. Your best friend is a socket
that fits the top. That way you no longer pop the 1/2 square again.

let the ole girl try to break my hand. The hoods on these are heavy
was checking the fluid this morning, a gust of wind hit and the hood fell down with my hand in the corner. The dern thing even latched. I could barely reach the latch and get it pushed enough to pull my hand out of the corner. Didn't break anything though.

Have been battling a critter in the engine bay. Couple weeks ago only my defrost was blowing.... Hmmm. Looked under the hood and vacuum lines by vacuum pump were chewed up. Fixed it, then a couple days later, rodent struck again. Chewed up what I fixed and the wiring to the AC, 4wd solenoid and other stuff. Not knowing what the rodent was I set a mouse trap on each battery. Next day found both traps tripped and on the passenger side, the suspect dragged one over to the other side. At that point I figured it was a squirrel so I filled a bowl of pecans and set it on the ground under the truck next to the front tire. Couple hours later, bowl was tipped over and missing the pecans. Off to get a live catch trap....set it and a few hours later....GOTCHA! Spent 3 or 4 hours the next evening soldering, rewiring, and running vaccum lines.

I would have proceeded to execute the offending critter.

Jess, that's a pain. I have had a few camping trips where squirrels were my primary source of worry.

Agreed, he would have met either Mr.Smith and Wesson or if I was in a bad mood, Mr.Remington, a shotgun.

Oh, whoops!
That's an OEM '08 aluminum rear cover for the Sterling 10.5/10.25 SRW.
