A small ratchet strap made putting the oil cooler back together a cinch. I read about in a post on here, and did it when i did my oil cooler.

This site kicks butt, 1 stop reference manual.

With the new stat and housing you wont need any RTV. In fact it would probably defeat the purpose of the gasket on the stat. I use a bit of petroleum jelly (no jokes pleas) on the gasket portion. Anti seize on the bolts. Just torque the housing down carefully and evenly. Thats really the key. 15ft lbs / 180in lbs.
