all i could get was 85/140 for my diff when i replaced the cover & gasket will i have any severe problems? i see everyone is using 75/140 ls syn i also just discovered my pinion gear seal is leaking should i just drain & refill with mobile 1 ls syn?? when i do the seal
Thanks Its a 98 F15o 4X4 8.8 Rear end
No problem with the oil that you have in the differential. When you repair the pinion seal, just replace the oil with the grade specified in your owners' manual.
The 75-140 LS synthetic is an excellent choice. If you have a posi-traction rear axle, you may have to add some extra conditioner, but I would start out with the standard LS stuff. If you have an open differential, the standard synthetic will work just fine.
