Steering Column Rebuild
I'm ready to rebuild the column on my 78 F150 4x4 auto. I've searched and searched and can't find a lick of information. At some point someone either jammed the tilt mechanism into a non-tilt column, or the mechanism is all jammed up. Nothing really fits right or works well. Wrong turn-signal switch (non-tilt mated to tilt mechanism), sloppy shifter, you get the idea. Discovery learning on my part, but hoping someone may have some advice...any thing tough to get to that there's a trick for or any lessons learned? Trying to save the $400+ it'll cost me to have Bill's in Spokane rebuild it for me with LMC parts I can order on my own. Thanks!!

I won't be a lot of help on the mechanics of the column, I've never worked on this particular one, but here is an exploded view of the column from the Ford parts catalog.
