I'm building my 400 and would like some imput. Here's what I'm doing:
'77 Block bored .040"; '72 351C heads resurfaced .015", bronze guides and stelite valve seats, ported exhaust, 2V stainless valves; Cam is 268 duration, .486/ .512; Rockers will be Ford Motorsport pedestal mount rollers; Pistons are Keith Black 351C with moly rings, ARP rod bolts; Timing chain is Edelbrock roller; Intake is Weiand Action Plus dual-plane; Carb is Holley 4160 600cfm with 1" phenolic spacer; Ignition is MSD 6, Ford distibutor, MSD coil and 8.5mm plug wires; Milodon windage tray; Headers are 1 5/8 primary tubes, 2 1/2" collectors going into 2 1/4" dual pipes; Fan will be replaced with electric fans; Alternator will be upgraded to 105 amp output.
I was told this should be around 350 HP and 450 lbs/ torque. What do y'all think about it?
The pre March of '77 Michigan Casting Center (MCC) blocks were the ones with cracking problems. The Cleveland Foundry (CF) and Dearborn Iron Foundry (DIF) blocks had no cracking problems.
The H.P. and TQ numbers for that engine look about right based on some of the combos I've run in DD2K.
i'll just say that having a clevland block 400 you won't see cracks
just not as common infact almost rare now if she has been abused or cver cver-bored with out major work...
on another line alltogether
actually i have a edlebrock 1407 750cfm but am gonna send 50 to paw and get a calibration kit cheap for5 sets of metering rods 6 pr jets & 5 pr srings i know summit has it cheaper but unless you have the part number you(I) can find a thing there so i will go with someone who advertizes m-block parts
ya never know where this carb will show up next **who do i have to kill to get a 427/428CJ ? **
