If it wasnt for the time crunch there would have been an auto in place of my 5spd. Id much rather have a built auto. But the reliablity ( when there is fluid in the trans) of the 5spd is awesome and much cheaper to get the power to the ground. A monster Dual Disk is the same price as a billet convertor. Oh btw I love this kevlar/ceramic that I put in DDing with my setup. The grabbiness is getting much better too.

I love hand shakin, but don't get me wrong, if I had the money either racerx or a BTS would already be in my truck.
If I can get the truck, it's the best fit for my budget.
I'm looking at buying a parts truck for the ZF swap. If everything goes as planned I should have the truck by next weekend. However, this thing has north of 300k and I wont know how well the trans shifts until I can drive it. So excluding anything major, how expensive and hard are these ZF's to rebuild?
If this works out, I'll have all kinds of goodies for you guys to haggle over!
I got dibs on the rear CC doors if they're solid and the auto PCM after your swap.

There are a few variables that need ironed out, but the thought of a ZF has me rather excited. My E4OD is fine....for now. It's only a matter of time, 2 to 3 doesn't want to grab if you're WOT. A ZF is perfect for the amount of towing I do and the HP I want in the future.
Seriously man, my wife was skeptical of my ability to turn a profit on my project too, but she's a believer now. It all depends what you can get the truck for. And like I said yesterday, if it is a 4x4, the D60 puts you in the plus a lot quicker than a 4x2 truck. Parting this truck out has been a good experience for me. The biggest thing to decide on is whether I want to keep more parts for spares or sell them for funds to fix up the truck I have. That's the tough part. Have your little lady talk to mine. She will smooth things over for you, lol.

Same here. It took quite a bit of convincing to make her a believer in the swap but when she agrees she'll go all in. She actually was the one to find my donor. I did all the work but somehow she gets the credit for coming out even to ahead on a 5 speed, front, and rear axle swap. Oh well I guess...
Thanks guys. Nate you were very helpful yesterday when we spoke. She will come around. The fact that my CJ project is not allowing her to park in the garage doesn't help, but hey, we had a mild winter!
