im looking at getting a 2 barrel adapter for my truck. i was wondering what carb i should go to. whats size, manufacturer most i would do to this motor in the future is exhaust and maybye a cam later on
For an otherwise stock engine, an Offenhauser "C" Series intake, and a Holley 2300 Series 350cfm 2BBL are a good combination. The Offey can be had from JCWhitney, for around $200, and the carb is about another $200. EFI dual exhaust manifolds are a good upgrade at the same time, as they provide good power, and typically can be had for around $50. I have this setup on my truck, and it has no problem pushing itself around.
If you wouldn't mind ... it gives a summary table for the 300-6 (note the values are for high performance, subtract 10% if you are mostly stock). I agree with Ford_6... that would be a good setup. On the other hand, you speak of "a two barrel adaptor" which would not do you much good if you're going to squeeze it down through the stock (1bbl) intake. You'd be MUCH better off with a 4bbl intake (& adapter) for a 2bbl. .
I just got a 1994 f150 xl with the 300 I6. I'm new to working with the I6 so i'm asking if this carb and intake work on my truck also. I'm also going to put dual exhaust and maybe eventually a cam.
I hated my YF so I swaped to a Rochester BV off of a brand X 292 I6. The BV gave me better throttle responce and low end torque, and it's about a thousand times more rugged than the YF. You can also tune the thing with Holley jets (I used a #62). I've been happy with the BV and I think it is a very good 1bbl swap that is cheep and easy.
