1976 C6 problem

I own a 1976 RV, E350 chassis. I start the engine up monthly and let it warm up and drive it a little. One time I went to warm it up it would not move in gear.
I found out the transmission line had developed a small leak. I changed the line and the filter (there was maybe a quart or two of fluid that drained out). After I filled it back up, these are the symptoms I have:
In Park, it feels like it is trying to move forward.
In Reverse, it will go forward.
From a stopped position, L1, L2 and D all move forward (good thing, huh).
After talking to a friend with transmission experience, he suggested driving it to see if anything stuck in the transmission would let go under pressure. That is when I discovered it will not shift into D - high gear. L1 and L2 shift just fine.
Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated. I do not have a garage to drop the tranny so a rebuild would be very difficult. I do not want to spend a whole lot of money paying a garage to work on it.
Is there any info on pressure checks on the valves? Maybe one is stuck?
Thanks for your time!
