Just a heads up about the aftermarket wing type motor mounts, yeah there cheap and easy.. but drilling out the bolts broken off in the bolt, not so fun. I did that three times, I thought it was the bolts or me driving. Replaced them with a cradle type of mount..no problems since.
good point jhooch but i havent got the clutch/cover and i cant find a 232 motor
but i guess it should come with that
the local junkyards want the same for a 302 as they would a 232 for some reason and they havent a 232 anyway i just figured ,,most,, buyers would want the v8 or ,,maybe,, a 300? and both are easier? to find
If you're just looking to sell it, I'd throw a 223 in it and be done. I wouldn't hassle with swapping another type engine it.
I agree. Finding a clutch and cover will be far easier than swapping to a different motor.
Unless the 4x4s are different, a 292 will not just drop in either. A bracket required for the V8 is missing from the frame for an I6. With a swap, anyway you do it, you're digging yourself into a hole, maybe not a very deep hole but I don't think you'll get your money/time back by swapping.
Have you really thought about just what will be involved to swap an entirely different motor in?
I know your 262 is in pieces, but it's low mileage, and (possibly) the original motor. I encourage you to reconsider having the 262 put back together! It might end up being a lot quicker than you think!
