i know how to access and change the plugs/wires. but i was wondering if anyone had any tips on doing so....... i took off the panel to access then and can quite figure out how im suposed to be able to reach them
what kind of engine is it? i have the 4.0 6cylinder. i took off both front tires to access the back 2 plugs on each side, and i was able to get to the front one on either side from the ront. right side back plug was the worst. you may use the search option and look up plug wires. i know there are several posts by others about. good luck rick
I changed the plugs... well 5 of them.. that right back one i just couldnt get to. , and the plug wires. I too had to remove the passenger side tire to get to the plugs.
I cant seem to get the inside panel back on tho..
Also, the van isnt running any better. I am having some acceleration problems, and bumping/shimmying once i get up to speed.
I had some work dont on the distributor last week.. they changed the coil and thr cap and rottor. They said the coil wasnt fireing hot enuff?
Anyway, I've also changed the fuel filter and the air filter. And im still running badly.
I really need some help with this.. but i dont want to have to bring it in for a $200 tune up !!
I see no one has replied to your question here for a while so I thought I would do so for you. There could be a few problems why you are getting your shaking and such. First make sure all you wires are seated properly on the distributor as well as your plugs. Some of them were kind of tricky to seat on properly. Also, did you gap ALL your spark plugs? I believe they are supposed to be gapped to 0.042- 0.046 (???) if I remember correctly. ALso, when I was doing mine a vacuum line came of and made it run like crap. Just double chack that. You can also check out my post I put up regarding my experience changing my spark plugs. That spark plug that you couldn't do took me 12 minutes to take out and put back in. Just have the motivation. You can do it. Trust me, you just need the right tools.
Anyway..check out this link.
