Wheel retainer key.... no longer made?

Got a question...My truck has the TTB dana 50 with auto locking hubs. I'm replacing the balljoints on the drivers side, and while taking the hub off I noticed the wheel retainer key that locks the nut which snugs down the wheel bearings, was broken. I went to Ford, he could not find it. I called a local 4wd shop and he said they no longer make it. They no longer make it? So what do I do? I assume this is an important piece that keeps the wheel bearing nut from backing off the bearing. Can I find one somewhere? Anybody have one laying around

The original hubs were made by Warn, you may be able to get the lockring key from them.

Are you talking about the one that looks kinda like heavy wire bent in a half circle with a tang on it?

You're talking about these hubs?

And this piece?

If so, yeah, good luck finding one. I found a new hub assembly at a 4x4 shop and it had the ring in it. I needed the new hub after I found the broken one in the picture and didn't have one to put back in there. Lasted 8 months and then caused a critical failure 75 miles from home.

Here's the place. Maybe they have some more. Kinda pricey for one stupid ring but you gotta have it.

Also, I MIGHT have another in good shape. If my truck sells then I'll no longer need it and could probably help you out.

Yes that is the part I need. After looking at how it is made, I probably broke the thing taking it off. I had a pair of needle nose pliers in there and noticed it was coming out at the bottom so I just pulled on it... Oops! I didn't realize at the time that "tang" stuck back in there.

Thanks for the link. I'll do some calling around tomorrow. Also, while searching the site I found an old thread that a few places listed that still had them in 2010, although I think they were part of a kit. Maybe they still have some. One place specialized in obsolete items I believe.

Thanks for the responses everyone.
