I can remember back a few years (how about late '80's ) when we used diesel to kill weeds becasue it was cheaper than weed killer at $.49 per gallon!
I had my 270 gallon tank filled up a few weeks ago and plan to let it sit till summer when the price is really up there.
Thinking about filling my other 100 gallon tank now, too.
We also take advantage of the local grocery store chain Giant Eagle (not sure all what states they are in.) Every purchase gets you $$ off per gallon at their pumps. We buy a lot of 'gift cards' to places that we know we'll spend money anyway and we get $$$ off on fuel doing so. I get free tanks of fuel a couple times a year, most times it's a couple bucks a gallon or so.

[SIZE=3][FONT=Consolas]We do this up here as well. Fred Meyer offers good discount when you buy there, but how long before it doesn't make sense for the big chain stores to offer any discounts? It's all political garbage if you ask me. I think the politicians could change the price in no time if they so desired. Maybe they don't because it's would be taking money out of their own pockets?

I upgraded to the 38g rear tank on mine (thanx for the writeup btw) and the last time I filled up it was $3.70-$3.80 or so per gal... I still have over 40g in the tanks
I don't drive it much... it's mainly around for when I do home improvement or need to pull soemthing.
I thought price fixing was illegal.
Any one know how long diesel fuel would be stable for or usable? It might be a good investment to buy a home heating oil tank for cheap and fill with 250 - 300 gallons or more.

I do the same thing! My first fillup I paid like $2.89 a gallon.

I'd rather be paying $10 than having leaders dick around in the market. That is bad news. Either let capitalism do its thing and leave it the **** alone or take it over and quit calling it capitalism because it plainly isn't.

Finally got around to registering and what's a better way to start than complaining about diesel prices...
The diesel prices have gone up $1.24 USD per gallon since new year's eve so that we currently pay $8.00 USD per gallon over here in Finland and there's even talks of raising the bar to $8.95. If that happens, then the diesel prices have more than doubled over here in just a few short years! I guess there's no need to say that the trucking industry is currently in huge difficulties and that's without the newest proposal to increase the diesel prices... And like that wouldn't be enough by itself, there's also an additional Diesel Tax for all diesel powered vehicles that can be from slightly less than a hundred bucks to thousands of bucks a year regardless if you drive your car/truck or not.
Sorry for the borderline OT (i.e. not U.S. related), but I thought you might find this tidbit of information interesting... That and it felt good to let of some steam!

I just started driving my '95 powerstroke, it was last filled in 2006.
about a month ago I pumped 130 gallons of heating oil (#2 diesel dyed red) out of a tank for a friend and have been burning it in tractors. it is 15 years old.
That's proably 'off-road' diesel similar to what farmers use. It is less expensive since there are no road taxes on it.
18 cents a gallon is all you get off in Arizona. but you pay delivery charges that are more than that unless you buy a full semi load. when you buy full semi loads you pay stock market price just like the gas stations do.

Yep, basically the same as here, only ours is 11 cents a gallon.
