Do you have a photo of your finished setup that you'd be willing to post?
What was the benefit of going to the Saginaw pump over the 78/79 style plastic pump?
I see that FordMan75 mentioned earlier that his is a serpentine setup, is that what yours is too or are earlier models still v-belts on the Saginaw?
The Saginaw pumps are a stronger/better design.
The Econolines came with the saginaw pumps. The 87-96 4.9L ( 300's ) equipped Econolines are serpentine set ups. The 75-86 300 equipped Econolines are V-belt set ups.
Let me know if you see a stockpile of these in a yard around here! Maybe a set as clean as the exhaust manifolds I got from you?? Okay that may be asking too much, ha
In the mean time I guess I'll start looking for that setup if the gentleman I'm supposed to get the other set of brackets/pump from doesn't come through.
Am I safe in saying it since nobody else has mentioned it, that the 2wd and 4x4 had the same brackets/pumps?
Mine is the old V belt set up, as my truck is a '68, and mostly stock in the body, trans, chassis, with mods to the 6 with Offenhauser aluminum intake, Holley 4 bbl. head work, Clifford's cam, push rods, valves, springs, lifters, headers, and 3" exhaust with mag flow muffler... Makes a whole new motor out of the old 6... I will look for some photos, but the Saginaw pump is way healthier, fewer problems, and more durable I am told. Never had one of the plastic pumps, but I have always trusted steel over plastic in my motor stuff.... Luck is with us.. found 2... maybe more later
Baja
The outboard motor is on my panga (Mexican skiff), not my truck... ha ha.. The skiff shares the shade, under the thatched palm fron roof on the car port. Shade is all important in the Baja... My old truck doesn't mind the boat at all. In fact, he pulls it to the ramp & back most days. Since the boat is only 20 ft, the truck doesn't know its back there. Check out those Saginaw pumps with local mechanics, and on the internet... they are everywhere, as Chebby used them forever, as did Ford on the Econoline vans...
'82 Bullnose Inline 300 C-2 Power Steering Pump on a '69 F100 Inline 240
I have a 1969 2WD F100 short bed Ranger with an inline 240. My truck originally came with manual steering and was manual when I bought it in 2011.
I robbed the Ford C-2 PS pump, brackets and water pump pulley from an '82 Bullnose F150 that had an inline 300. I traded the donor PS pump in as a core for a newly rebuilt PS pump. (Replacement PS pump O'Reilly p/n 20-6240F).
My original water pump had a single groove (sheave) pulley and a 2 groove harmonic balancer. The '82 Bullnose water pump pulley and harmonic balancer on the 300 had 3 grooves. I installed a brand new 3 groove harmonic balancer (Power Bond brand p/n PB1064N).
I discovered the 3 groove water pump pulley from the '82 Bullnose 300 donor would not bolt up to the water pump on my '69 240 --the pulley was too deep. After some research, I discovered the 240/300 had two different shaft length water pumps. The one I had was the shorter 3-5/8" version. The one I needed was the longer 4-5/16" version. I bought a brand new 4-5/16" shaft length water pump through NAPA (Tru-Flow brand p/n 42070 --under $40.00) and the 3 groove water pump pulley bolted right on.
I installed a '78 Saginaw PS gearbox and bought new pressure and return lines spec'd for a '79 F150 with a 300. The PS pressure line is NAPA p/n 7-1490 and the return line is NAPA p/n 7-1559.
