The compression was rechecked and all cvlinders were around 35#.The consensus is the the truck is not worth the expense to fix it.I can't believe there is something that would effect all six cylinders at the same time. Are there any last ditch fix's you guys can suggest?Otherwise thanks for the help and keep up the good work.
If your #1 cyl is at TDC on compression stroke and your rotor is at 11 you timing is wrong and since you haven't pulled out the dist it sounds like the timing chain may have skipped a tooth and valves are opening too soon and not allowing proper compression, a timing set is that much but I guess it depends how far you want to go. A jumped chain will cause all six to be low.
We have pulled the distributor a "few" times. That was why we were so concerned with the timing to begin with. We can't use the harmonic balancer because it spins freely, so we were setting the #1 cylinder at the top of it's compession cycle and facing the rotor at 11o'clock.We just weren't sure of where the distributor should face.
The #1 plug wire distributor cap position at 11:00 oclock is the right orientation for the distributor ignition timing.
The 35# compression number on all cyls suggests that something is off on the Valve timing as has been suggested.
I disagree with 11 o'clock. Mine is currently tore down and I made marks and took pics of how the dist is oriented. In the pic below the balancer is at 0 deg and note the rotor position, closer to 12:30.
