Im looking at a low mileage (48K) 07' Crew cab dually Lariat. looks to be a really clean truck. I have AE and have driven it about 100 miles while checking all the vitals. ICP seems good but IPR% seems high....goes up to 60-70% at time (not really WOT). temp spread on a unloaded interstate run was about 7-8 degrees at its highest. havent towed with it yet.
FICM was 47, 47.5, 48 while running. this morning i monitored it from cold start (about 35*F this morning) and it droped to 45 at its lowest.
Pulled the warranty history (OASIS is down for maintenance?) and it appears that it has had the instrument cluster replace a couple of times in its short life. And also today i get in and everything is working....get to gas station shut off to add fuel and re start and the heater controls are black....hot air coming from the defrost but the controls are out. shut truck off a little while latter and when i crank it back up the controls are back to normal. is this common or odd? would these gremlins scare you away...especially since it has had a history of dash related gremlins.
it sounds like a bad wiring harness, or some bad fuses, or bad relays, or even bad switches. at this point, who knows? maybe tat a/c control box is the screwy thing. u can go to a salvage yard and find another one for cheap, plug it back in, and it should work again.
things fail. it's not tat common but possible to fail. i've heard of it b4.
I've had my truck all most 2 years now and had the same problem with the heater control panel twice. The second time I didn't drive anywhere, just shut down and re-started and it powered up. It's been several months now with no issues.
