Alright I have an 08 f150 with a 4.6 its 2wd. I have it dropped in the front with 2 inch lowering springs.
My question is what can I get to help get my chamber into spec. I already have these installed http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...2910&ppt=C0322 They do not pull my front tires into spec. the chamber is still off. by .02-.05, Cant remember exactly right now. I have been looking around for a different kind of kit. I found this http://www.jazzproparts.com/product....tning-5-86240k (not from that site of course they just have to most complete picture of the kit) but I don't have a clue where those parts go, maybe as a cowl brace. I am pretty familiar with vehicles, I do all of my own work, except for alignments.
Thanks in advance.
I don't know if your ever going to get it perfectly aligned with it being lowered. I know that my stang will track down the road straight, but is still not perfectly aligned (it is dropped 2"). It is very difficult to get a lowered vehicle in align and keep it that way.
thats what I have been afraid of, I think my only option is too slot the 3 upper strut mount holes to allow the top of the strut to move out. and then fine tune it on the lower a-arm. Maybe I could fab up some kind of strut tower brace, to make the top adjustable as well?
Allowing the strut to move out will work, but if you can't get enough adjustment out of your lower a-arm, then you will be in the same boat just with slotted out strut mount holes. I would look very carefully at this before I messed with the stut mounting holes.
I have not put a strut tower brace on my stang, but I have heard from several people that it can make a difference. I have been thinking about trying one out. I don't know how it would do on something as heavy as our trucks though.
Robert, you need to pull those lower control arms inward more, or move the uppers out. Either way, you will have to either extend the lower slotted holes inwards about 1/2 inch ... or make the upper holes slotted outwards (they are round now).
Then, it's possible that you find the tie rods too long and they may bottom out before you can get toe right.
There are some threads that have pics of what I am talking about. Seach for "lowering" and "lower" and see what you find.
I don't know what I was thinking with the whole strut thing, I should know better, I guess I mess with front wheel dirve cars to much.
I am probaly going to make the lowers have more adjustment by making the holes longer. And redrilling the holes further in a hair for the adjusters I already have to make adjusting easier.
And if I do run out of toe adjustment I can probaly trim the end a little. And use my heavy duty tab and die set to add some threads to the tie rod arm. But I will check to make sure my dies are strong enough before I actualy trim anything
