anyone have any idea on what kind of paint will last? my truck is a limited with painted bumpers and i'm going to get the new bumper painted to match my truck , buckstop only powdercoats a few colors none of witch they say will match all that well.
so is there a magic bumper paint out there?or do i just get it painted and some 3'm film applied to the flats?
was hoping to get something close and avoid all this but apparently the mineral gray tannish color is not available in powdercoat.
so anyone know what i should be asking for at the body shop?would like to have it last even up here on minnesotas salt trails.

Line ex is nice... there are a few competitors/imitators that work just as well these days, and some are a bit cheaper. If you prep the bumper and apply it correctly any automotive paint will work just as well on a bumper as it will on the rest of your car, if you just want to have a bodyshop color match it.
Depending on your ex color, the painted bumpers look great. If i ever repaint mine i would have it powered coated.
mine is the same color with the painted bumpers and trim.dont think black bumpers(undercoating) fits in the scheme of things.anyone with linex bumpers do the custom colors hold up or do they fade quickly?
still thinking of having them painted just want somthing that at least will last 5 years without too much rust

from what I've seen, the line X colors are color fast for a very long time... I know people who have had black ones put in 10 years ago that are still dark black, and I've seen colored ones that were a few years old that still looked brand new. The pigment is mixed in with the lineX before they spray it
I can't attest to any color fade, but if you are using your bumper to push on things (like vehicles), run over small trees, etc., no finish will last forever. I had the bumper on the truck in my avatar coated with bedliner at the same time as my bed. It is quality stuff, but after 5 years or so a couple spots need touching up. Bedliner is definitely the most durable, but if you use your bumper the way I have used mine, be comfortable with the hassle of getting line-x or whoever to fix it (most reputable bedliners have a lifetime warranty meaning free repairs, but scheduling an appointment gets to be a PITA), or get a color that is easy to match with cheap do it yourself stuff so you can touch it up.
if you are using your bumper to push other vehicles you should invest in a set of rubber pads for the front. there are several purpose made for that, or you can just get some made for loading docks.
Buckstop will powder coat it any color metallic you want.
The option is on their pricing page. Look under "Upgrades and Options"
Other Metallic Custom Powder Coating $250
i asked if they had something to match my truck color available and they said no.i wonder if they are hesitant to try to match factory colors with the custom powdercoats? i would gladly pay the 250 to just have them delivered in the proper color
