I have a 2002 F350 CC. I recently installed some AMP powersteps. Well everything works as they should until I start the truck. When I do and open my driver door or my rear passenger door the steps start acting crazy. Well I called AMP and they said that the door trigger wires are being pulsed. They then asked if I had a aftermarket alarm. I said I only know of the Ford PATS that is installed. However it has never worked in fact I dont even have a key fob for it. The red light does not blink either. So they had me check under the dash for a aftermarket alarm. I did pull a remote starter out. DEI 561R. I traced each of the wires and none of those plug into the door triggers. So my question is should the PATS pulse the VSM? And why is it pulsing only two of the 4 doors? Thanks Mike
Are you sure that the door switches are providing a 12v power supply or what my understanding is, that they send a signal to the GEM which kicks a relay and in turn turns on the light. I would try going directly to the dome light for a switched source as a test. What I know of gem modules is that they work off of low voltage signals and resistance to ground. I don't believe you can pull any source of power from a GEM switched circuit thats why I say try directly from the dome light as a test.
An 02 Super Duty never had PATS, the problem is elsewhere.
Well what is the thing in the dash that looks like where the PATS light would be? I figured it had one was just not hooked up.

The wires normally ground and when the door is open then the wire opens. Two of mine I assume have power pulsing
