I didnt find this situation in any prior posts so i thought i would post this and see if anyone else ran into the same issue with having a steering stablizer istalled. I ordered blistien shocks, blistien steering stablizer, Helwig swaybar, a RAS, and some KC rear back lights to be installed on my 2005 v10 2x4 Excursion. I had them installed except for the steering stablizer. Here's why.....
I was told by the installer that it couldn't be installed because not all Excursions came with a factory steering stablizer. As such, since my X didn't originally come with one, the mounting parts that Ford would have had on the X was not there so there was nothing to mount the stablizer to.
So, if I really wanted to have it installed, I would need to order the mounting parts from Ford which runs about $300+.
I'm not a mechanic. Is there any validity to this? I trust the installers. They know their stuff. I just was surprised no one called this out before on the forum.
Maybe someone knows of another steering stablizer that provides the mount(s) needed?
Thanking you in advance for the insight you may have.
What a day, I just finished buffing, waxing the X. She looks sweet. Phew! I'll crawl under the X tomorrow and take some photos. Thank you all for the info.
