Steering stablizer or lack thereof

I didnt find this situation in any prior posts so i thought i would post this and see if anyone else ran into the same issue with having a steering stablizer istalled. I ordered blistien shocks, blistien steering stablizer, Helwig swaybar, a RAS, and some KC rear back lights to be installed on my 2005 v10 2x4 Excursion. I had them installed except for the steering stablizer. Here's why.....

I was told by the installer that it couldn't be installed because not all Excursions came with a factory steering stablizer. As such, since my X didn't originally come with one, the mounting parts that Ford would have had on the X was not there so there was nothing to mount the stablizer to.

So, if I really wanted to have it installed, I would need to order the mounting parts from Ford which runs about $300+.

I'm not a mechanic. Is there any validity to this? I trust the installers. They know their stuff. I just was surprised no one called this out before on the forum.

Maybe someone knows of another steering stablizer that provides the mount(s) needed?

Thanking you in advance for the insight you may have.

Got pics?

I installed a dual steering stabilizer from Skyjacker. It required that I cut off the mount for the stock stabilizer to do the install.

I would guess (ASSume?) that the 2wd trucks do not have the stabilizer. Mine at least does not.

Had the same concern myself and came accross this: "The Ford part # for a F250SD kit is F81Z-3E650-AA. It should work on a Excursion."

A 2wd Excursion to be exact, I need to call the dealership and see if they can dig this up, but it would be nice to have a stabilizer.

Post a pic of your front I beam. The 4x4's have it mounted on passenger drag link and axle. Make sure your picture shows the drag link clearly

What a day, I just finished buffing, waxing the X. She looks sweet. Phew! I'll crawl under the X tomorrow and take some photos. Thank you all for the info.

Hi,

Does that mean that I wouldn't need the steering damper or the mount if I bought the Skyjacker steering Stablizer?

If you buy the dual steering stabilizer you will not need the factory mount.

If you buy the single steering stabilizer I believe it still uses the factory mount.

The passenger side uses the factory mount (they say to cut it) and the driver side damper ties into the leaf spring u-bolt with a supplied piece.
